Town of Boxborough - Treasurer / Collector

The town of Boxborough is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Treasurer/Tax Collector.

Responsible for the receipt, disbursement, investment and custody of all municipal funds, managing the town’s debt service including the issuance of bonds, the custody of tax title properties and collection of money due to the town. Serves as the town’s cash manager and is responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of all monthly revenues, bank accounts and the Treasurer’s cashbook. The Treasurer/Tax Collector serves as a member of the town’s finance team to assure compliance with federal/state law and regulation governing municipal finance and to develop and maintain appropriate levels of internal control to safeguard the financial assets of the town. Also responsible for payroll and administration of retirement and benefit programs.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field and at least five years experience in a municipal setting or any equivalent combination of experience and education. Successful candidate should have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of financial management and specific knowledge of the legal controls, methods and procedures of municipal finance, comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and UMAS; excellent communication and public relation skills; must be CMMT certified within two years of employment; Tax Collector certification desired. Experience with VADAR a plus. Must be bondable.
