Assistant Tax Collector
The Town of Berlin is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Assistant Tax Collector. ~This is a part-time 18 hour per week job and is a Grade VII Step 1-4 (pay range of $21.50 to $22.97 per hour) position. The Assistant Tax Collector provides technical assistance in support of the office’s responsibilities, including but not limited to: collecting and receiving revenue; assisting banks, finance companies, law offices, and members of the general public with information pertaining to current and delinquent real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and municipal liens; supervises and performs all other duties as assigned.
The Assistant Collector must be bondable and pass a CORI check. Associate’s degree preferred but related tax collecting experience and working knowledge of tax collection laws considered. Exceptional customer service skills and ability to deal effectively with the public is a must. Previous experience with cash handling procedures and working in a fast-paced office environment highly desired. Proficient computer skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other software programs as needed for the job. Knowledge of Point Tax Software is a plus.
Assistant Tax Collector will also perform some functions for the Treasurer’s Office as assigned.
